Adult & Senior Program Programs
Programs that respond to community need
The Urban League Senior Program provides services to seniors, enabling them to live healthily, independently and safely in their homes. It offers a one-stop access-point for in-home services, information and assistance, case management, care-giver support and advocacy. Our Senior Activity Center provides healthy and fun activities that offer opportunities for personal growth and companionship.
Case management
Our case-management team assists 150-170 seniors in North/Northeast Portland on an ongoing basis with transportation, housekeeping, personal care and just keeping regular in contact. Our services enable many seniors to remain in their own home instead of moving into a care facility.
Grandparent Support Program
The Senior Program offers one of the only Grandparent Support groups in the region for grandparents who have the primary responsibility of rising their grandchildren.
Information and Assistance
Information and Assistance connects seniors to resources such as in-home service, housing information, home repair, utility assistance, transportation, food and nutrition and more.
Transportation
Free door to door transportation is available for trips to the Senior Center, medical appointments and shopping through our partnership with Ride Connection
Social activities
We offer a wide variety of activities to encourage social contact, including field trips, bingo, sewing classes, dances, computer classes and movies. We serve about 550 senior a month through our Senior Center
Outreach and Advocacy
There is an ongoing program of community outreach to publicize our services, raise awareness on issues relevant to seniors and connect with community partners, churches, and senior residences.
Intergenerational Projects
This project allows youth and seniors opportunities to exchange ideas and information in an effort to better understand each other and work together
